World, Meet Snoodle

My classroom elf. He's so silly and my students adore him! Plus, Noel (our Christmas angel from last year) is Snoodle's supervisor. My former babies were glad to see Noel on Monday!

Whoever said science was all icky stuff..

Never had my class.

To wrap up our landform unit, I made landform cakes! I also had the kids point out what we studied on the cake, then we ate them. Yummy!

Belated Halloween..and others

Hello! I realized that I said I'd blog on Halloween..but never trust my word when I say something about blogging.. Anyways, I went as Belle from "Beauty and the Beast." I got complements from everyone.
A first grader dressed up as the beast. I, of course, had to have a picture.
Saturday was the school's fall festival. We raised over $100 for our school buy selling chili. The PTO sponsored a "jail n bail." Guess who got put in there 3 times..hopefully, it want out of grief..
Friday is our Veteran's Day Program. Monday is an off day. Hello, 3 day weekend!

We painted ceramic pumpkins today to get in the festive spirit! I even got to join in on the fun!

Giftbag galore.

Hello all!
I've told a coworker that my years of teaching were like children. With last year being my first year, they're like my oldest. I took so many pictures did so many extra activities. This year's group is like the middle child. I love them just as much (if not, more) but I forget to take photos and our crafts are not as frequent but I will say that they (being the activities) are more extravagant..
We've had so much fun in October! We've been learning about dinosaurs. We made some out of noodles.
Then, we switched gears and started learning about cows for our Ag in the Class segment!
We made our own butter! Each student was given their own butter jar to shake/take home. To my surprise, everyone enjoyed it! We even used our senses to observe beef jerky..which had mixed reviews.
Saturday is CCA's fall festival! We'll be selling beef chilli with other fixings.
Halloween is near again, I'll post about that later. I just wanted to show off my goodie bags for the kids this year! I will say that last year's class only got candy from me..no goodybags! See, things even out! ;)

But really though..

I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to teach this lesson over again. It's so much fun and the kids love it. If you have no clue, what I'm talking about, scroll down to one of last year's post.

Morphoin' time..

Guess what we're studying in science? And also, I didn't freak out when the student brought them to school..out loud at least. Amphibians are not my thing. Oh well, the students are loving our temporary class visitors. That's of the upmost importance..right?

2nd Go Round for 1st Days

Hello All!

I survived. I'm brutally exhausted but I survived. This first day went a lot better than last year..but that's a given. It isn't my first rodeo. The day started off great.

Morning Work was placed on the desks. All needed materials were placed in desks. Instructions were on the board. I greeted my kids at the door and told them what to do. I also told them how happy I was that they were there.
When the Morning Work stops, it can seem a bit like the OK Corral, but this time was different. I told them my expectations. I told them my rules and how we do things in second grade. We talked about how we walk in the classroom, bathroom, and hall.
We implemented a "Secret Pal" at CCA. Mine happens to know my weaknesses: Butterfingers, Reeses, and Coke Zero..they even put it in a pink gift bag.
After our rules, we made a Class Promise. This is what the kids came up with, word for word. I just did the writing. Afterwards, we traced our hands and decorated them. After I laminate them, the hands will go around the Promise. Thanks to Pinterest for this idea!
This was also Pinterest inspired. I found it on a teacher's blog. I loved this idea. I asked the questions and gave each student sticky notes so they could answer. Some of the answers crack me up!

All in all..

Twas the night before school..

Hello!
Tomorrow starts the school year! I've been preparing for this day since last year. Even though everything is where it should be, and it's my second round at this, I still get so jittery. Luckily, I've interacted with all my students so it's not as awkward as it should be. Toon in when I report how the first day went! It should be tomorrow but I'm not making any promises!

New Year. New Look.

As promised before, I said I would post photos of my room! Here we go!

Open House is tomorrow! Since I worked here before, I know my cutie kids and their parents! Which is cool and stuff. No awkwardness this time.

Endless Summer Fun!

Well. Hello all! I know I haven't posted in ages all summer, but since this is my "School Bog," I decided that I would take a break from blogging like it was school. However, let me catch you up on my life..
Two days after school let out for summer, I headed down to Gulf Shores to celebrate Memorial Day!

What a view!
We even rode the Ferris Wheel at the Wharf.

After spending almost a full week down there, I came back home to celebrate an engagement for one of my sorority sisters.

AB was one of my favorite older girls! I was so happy to celebrate this joyous occasion along with her and her fiance.
Flash forward to the middle of June. I went to Birmingham to go to a Bridal Shower for another sorority sister.

So happy for HayRay! Yes, I realize that I am short.

Again in mid June, I celebrated my Daddy's 33rd year of being a Father! He's such a sweet and loving man! He's also the reason that I'm good at math..and shelling peas!

It was wonderful to spend the day celebrating with him!

Skip on to a week later, and it was Barbspalooza '13. A.K.A: My birthday! My celebration started early. My best friend, Fonzy, came in to Mo'town to celebrate my birthday.

I know this is terrible photo quality but my phone gets moody and doesn't take quality photos at times. We were also having a serious conversation when this photo was being taken. Since we hadn't seen each other in a month, we don't like when anyone/anything interrupts our precious time!

I also celebrated my 23rd with my family!
My momma was Superwoman with the lunch and cake!

A week later, I was celebrating 2 of my uncle's 50th birthdays!
I love my family!

Fast forward to July. After celebrating the Fourth at home, I celebrated more of HayRay's exciting times with a few close friends for the weekend, we had a blast!
Reunited with my best friend!
I never got a photo with the bride-to-be on this occasion. Either my phone was dead or one of us didn't have on makeup, etc, etc.

The next week, I attending the wedding of one of my childhood friends, who happens to be a sorority sister! I never got a picture with her either, but I got a picture with a few other sorority sisters!
I have a lot of friends, y'all..

Fast forward to the end of July, it's now Fonzy's birthday! We celebrated at Jim N Nick's!

We even had Happy Birthday crowns!

This photo makes me smile every time I see it. Christine went to the rival school of my high school alma mater. We had a lot of the same mutual friends growing up even though our schools could "never get along." Some people compared the rivalry to that of the Iron Bowl. However, the competition between us is kept to a minimum. She knows what to say to make the whole room laugh, as you can see from the picture..

The next day was HayRay's wedding. The wedding was near Montgomery. So, we load up the cars and head down that way. After a wrong "no" turn, we made it to the ceremony just in time! Her reception was at a beautiful location too! Here are some of us goofing off while we where waiting on things to start.
My sorority is filled with natural camera hounds.. just like me..

Next, I went to the Kasey Musgraves' concert at Workplay! She is very talented and I know she will go far in her music career!

And lastly, I celebrated another sorority sister's birthday!

Like I said before, I have a lot of friends..

Also during this summer, I was in my classroom. I worked on random days to make sure my classroom was in order so I would not be panicked, like last year. I have a new theme going up, and I believe it's super cute. Stay tuned to the next blogpost where you'll see photos from my classroom! Until then, may your days be merry and bright!
